I'm extremely lucky about two things in my financial life - I have a wonderful husband who keeps us on track financially and, through his own research, is very knowledgeable about financial matters, and I don't really like to shop. lol This hasn't always been the case tho', as we were raising our two girls there were some tough times and I was lured into wanting things that, now in hindsight, I realize were not important at.all. Even tho' we are in a pretty good place in our financial lives, this book was still insightful. I even had the hubs read it and he was impressed.
Many people have fear and anxiety about money and The Money Code can help, in that it acknowledges that fear, and then empowers you to get beyond it.
This is a journey to uncover how to live better financially - and in this interactive tale, you are "Jack". Yes, interactive. At the end of each lesson, or chapter, The Money Code gives you tools that you need to determine how your feel, emotionally, about money - Fear {The Protector}, Commitment {The Giver}, and Happiness {The Pleasure Seeker} - and how these emotions affect your financial decisions, and goals.
In our case, Hubs is The Protector - he keeps us straight in our financial world. I am The Giver - I won't put the needs of others above our own, in most instances, but I do tend to take care of others in most aspects.
I think it's helpful to not only know what your emotional persona is in the money world, but also that of your your partner. It would make it a lot easier to work together if you can respect the financial emotions of each other - I read somewhere that money ranked very high up on the domestic dispute triggers, and maybe putting a label on your feelings about money can make it easier, for those who have a lot of anxiety over money, to talk about.
Most of us were not really taught anything about making financial decisions and goals for ourselves and our families beyond the directive to "put money in a savings account". A savings account and emergency fund is, of course, important but will not earn much interest these days. And betting that the government will take care of us as we get older is becoming a loosing bet. Let The Money Code help you uncover the five secrets to living your one best financial life and give you the insight to begin to dig deeper and find the right money goals for you and your family.
Through your voyage, as Jack, you'll learn how to:
- Prevent bad decisions about money
- Identify your Money Mind--Fear, Happiness, or Commitment--and how it affects every financial decision you make
- Use a custom checklist to improve your entire financial life
- Clearly discuss decisions about money with the ones you love
- Finally take complete control of your financial life

There is definitely never enough money even with strict budgeting, and I do not have financial security at this moment.
ReplyDelete#1 - there is never enough money! I budget as tightly as possible, but had to take off a few years from work caring for mom when she had cancer. Now I'm in a deep money hole. Sigh.
